Knit – Research Director

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI-powered research technology client in their search for a Research Director. This is a remote position supporting enterprise brands as they transform their consumer insights workflows.

Our client has built a platform that significantly accelerates primary research timelines while maintaining quality standards. As Research Director, you will own customer relationships and ensure successful research outcomes that drive retention and expansion.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the dedicated research lead for all assigned customer accounts, maintaining ultimate accountability for project success
• Drive comprehensive project scoping sessions to deeply understand research objectives and contextual requirements
• Act as strategic problem solver and research subject matter expert, proposing solutions to business and research challenges
• Educate customers on platform capabilities and architect solutions that maximize project success
• Provide final quality review and approval on all customer-ready deliverables, presenting key insights and recommendations directly to stakeholders
• Maintain and enrich customer context documentation to improve ongoing service delivery
• Participate in continuous product innovation to close gaps between AI output and human researcher quality
• Collect and document feedback on the final delivery process to inform product development
• Manage direct reports effectively, including performance management, hiring, onboarding, skill development, and team morale
• Drive net revenue retention (NRR) objectives through research excellence and customer success

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 8+ years of market research experience, with majority of time spent supplier-side in a market research agency environment
• Demonstrated experience leading discovery and scoping calls, writing and editing quantitative and qualitative questionnaires from scratch, drafting analysis plans, and creating stakeholder-ready insights reports and toplines
• Proven track record owning client relationships with Enterprise and Fortune 500 US-based companies, specifically working with insights professionals to scope and achieve research outcomes that result in customer retention and growth
• Ability to drive initiatives and outcomes in ambiguous environments, navigating complex customer needs and internal business changes
• Success managing competing priorities across multiple simultaneous research projects and business demands
• Effective people management experience including driving clarity and accountability, hiring, onboarding, performance management, conflict resolution, and morale building

Preferred:

• Proven track record operating successfully in early-stage startup environments (under 50 employees)

Pay

Our client offers a competitive compensation package including base salary ($140,000 - $160,000 based on experience and qualifications), equity options, comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, vision), 401(k) with company match, flexible time-off, technology stipend, and additional benefits.
