About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential biopharmaceutical organization focused on rare cholestatic liver diseases. Our talent team is seeking a Therapeutic Account Manager to cover the Memphis territory. This role requires a clinically credible professional who can develop deep expertise in rare liver conditions, build trusted relationships across complex healthcare systems, and influence treatment decisions through insight-led engagement rather than transactional selling.
The ideal candidate brings proven rare disease or specialty pharmaceutical experience, strong clinical aptitude, and the ability to navigate sophisticated accounts including pediatric and adult hepatology centers, academic medical centers, and referral networks.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute territory business plans aligned with strategic priorities, using performance data and market intelligence to identify opportunities and adjust tactics
- Build and manage strategic accounts across health systems, centers of excellence, and referral networks in hepatology and gastroenterology
- Create customized account plans reflecting local patient journeys, stakeholder dynamics, clinical decision-making patterns, and access considerations
- Establish trusted relationships with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, and care teams through relevant value delivery and consistent follow-through
- Communicate complex scientific and clinical information clearly and credibly, tailoring discussions to each healthcare professional's knowledge and priorities
- Engage customers as a peer using thoughtful questioning, active listening, and insight-led approaches to influence clinical practices and treatment consideration
- Support disease awareness, appropriate patient identification, treatment initiation, and persistence in accordance with approved promotional practices
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners including Medical Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, and Marketing to coordinate account strategy and remove barriers
- Maintain accurate customer records, forecasts, expense reporting, and administrative documentation
- Capture and communicate actionable field insights to inform strategy, messaging, training, and resource development
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of progressive pharmaceutical or biotechnology sales experience
- Proven track record of delivering business results in specialty, rare disease, or high-science markets
- Rare disease experience highly preferred; hepatology, gastroenterology, or pediatric specialty care experience highly desirable
- Strong clinical aptitude with ability to learn and communicate complex disease-state, diagnostic, mechanism-of-action, and clinical data information
- Experience with account-based selling across health systems, centers of excellence, multidisciplinary teams, and referral networks
- Demonstrated ability to use insight-led or challenger-style selling to constructively challenge status quo and influence behavior
- Working knowledge of access and reimbursement dynamics and patient support pathways in rare disease markets
- Strong business acumen and ability to interpret performance data and develop territory strategies
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and ability to build trust with sophisticated healthcare professionals
- Proven self-motivation, resilience, organization, and ability to perform independently in fast-moving environments
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 70%, including frequent overnight travel and occasional weekend commitments
