Senior AI Engineer

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential SaaS organization seeking a Senior AI Engineer to design, build, and scale production-grade AI systems that power intelligent commerce solutions. In this permanent (CDI) role based in Bordeaux with 4 days on-site per week, you will work at the intersection of software engineering, machine learning, and generative AI.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Designing, building, and deploying production-grade AI systems leveraging LLMs, RAG, AI Agents, multimodal AI, and evaluation frameworks
• Architecting complex agentic workflows including tools, memory, retrieval, planning, and guardrails
• Rapidly prototyping new capabilities and evolving them into scalable, reliable AI production systems
• Connecting AI systems to internal platforms, business applications, CRM, data platforms, and knowledge bases
• Designing robust orchestration layers between models, APIs, tools, retrieval systems, and business workflows
• Ensuring reliability, observability, scalability, and maintainability across the entire AI stack
• Partnering with end users, business teams, product managers, and engineers to identify high-value AI opportunities
• Running pilots and experiments, gathering feedback, and measuring business impact through data-driven iteration
• Implementing evaluation frameworks, guardrails, validation layers, and monitoring systems
• Ensuring compliance with data security, governance, and access control requirements
• Building scalable ecosystems of AI systems and agents that empower internal teams
• Contributing to AI engineering standards, reusable frameworks, and best practices

What We're Looking For

Our client seeks a candidate with:

• 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering, ML Engineering, Applied AI, or related fields
• Strong Python and software engineering fundamentals
• Hands-on experience building production AI systems using LLMs, RAG, and AI Agents
• Experience designing multi-step agentic workflows and retrieval systems
• Experience evaluating AI systems and improving model performance
• Experience deploying and operating production services in cloud environments (AWS or GCP)
• Strong communication skills in English
• Curiosity, pragmatism, and passion for building AI products

Technical stack includes: Python, SQL, OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Mistral, LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, Vector Databases, Docker, and Kubernetes

Pay

This position offers a competitive compensation package. The client has indicated an annual gross salary range of €65,000 – €85,000, with final offers determined based on experience, skills, and scope of responsibilities.
