ROI Medical Records Specialist – Remote

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology organization in their search for a Remote ROI Medical Records Specialist. Our client serves stakeholders across the healthcare ecosystem with digital solutions focused on care quality and health information management.

This is a fully remote position based in the United States. You will process release of information requests with accuracy and efficiency while safeguarding patient privacy and ensuring HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities

• Process release of information requests by retrieving patient medical charts, scanning records accurately, and transmitting documentation according to established procedures and quality standards
• Date stamp all requests and highlight pertinent data to facilitate efficient processing
• Validate requests and authorizations for release of medical information according to established protocols
• Perform quality checks on all work to ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and proper invoicing
• Maintain equipment in excellent operating condition
• Provide excellent customer service by being attentive, respectful, and proactive in identifying concerns or problems
• May receive incoming requests including mail, telephone inquiries, and facsimile retrieval depending on client needs
• Maintain working knowledge of existing state laws and fee structures
• Work within scope of position and accept additional assignments during backlogs as needed
• Carry out responsibilities in accordance with HIPAA, state and federal regulations, and labor requirements
• Maintain confidentiality, security, and ethical standards with all privileged information

What We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Minimum 2 years prior experience in a medical records department or similar healthcare setting preferred
• Strong computer software experience with working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required
• Excellent organizational skills
• Typing speed of 50 wpm or greater
• Ability to use fax, copier, and scanning equipment
• Willingness to learn new equipment and processes quickly
• Self-motivated with proven ability to work as a team player
• Demonstrated customer satisfaction skills
• Strong multi-tasking abilities
