About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential AI technology firm in their search for a Principal Thermal Solutions Engineer based in Munich, Germany. Our client is at the forefront of applying advanced computational methods to hardware design challenges, serving leading organizations across the semiconductor and electronics industries.
This is a strategic leadership role within the European technical team. You will build and lead a team of thermal engineers who work directly with enterprise customers to validate complex thermal management systems and demonstrate the value of cutting-edge simulation platforms. This position combines deep technical expertise in thermal physics with team leadership, customer engagement, and strategic influence on product development.
Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and scale a high-performing team of thermal engineers across Europe, including hiring, mentoring, and setting technical direction
- Collaborate with sales teams to lead technical discussions, scope proof-of-concept evaluations, and deliver product demonstrations to enterprise prospects
- Guide customer engineering teams through evaluation phases by overseeing simulation setup, running complex test cases, and interpreting results to prove technical and business value
- Own customer enablement through onboarding, deployment, and account expansion, providing technical guidance, training sessions, and advanced troubleshooting
- Partner with product and engineering teams to translate customer feedback and workflow insights into actionable product improvements
- Represent the organization at industry conferences and semiconductor events through technical presentations and platform demonstrations
- Maintain competitive intelligence on simulation technologies, industry trends, and market positioning
What We're Looking For
Required qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related technical field
- 15+ years of hands-on experience in thermal management and cooling solutions, with expert-level mastery of commercial simulation software (Flotherm, Ansys Icepak/Fluent, Simcenter STAR-CCM+, or equivalent)
- Deep familiarity with semiconductor electronics packaging, advanced packaging technologies (2.5D/3D IC), or foundry ecosystems
- Prior experience in customer-facing roles with proven ability to build trust and manage engineering client relationships
- Practical programming experience using Python or C++ to automate workflows or parse simulation data
- Proven managerial or technical leadership experience, with ability to scale, mentor, and drive execution across engineering teams
- Elite communication skills with ability to distill complex physics and simulation results for both technical and business audiences
Preferred qualifications:
- Familiarity with structural mechanical simulations (FEA/stress) and/or Electrical Signal Integrity and Power Integrity (SI/PI) workflows
- Direct experience commercializing technical software (EDA or CAE simulation tools) into semiconductor and electronics enterprises
- Prior experience in technical pre-sales, application engineering (FAE), or strategic technical sales environments
- Ability to rapidly adopt and champion AI-assisted design or simulation tools
This is a remote role with moderate travel primarily within continental Europe. Some infrequent intercontinental travel may be required for collaboration with teams in other regions.
