About This Opportunity

We are representing a growing Australian finance and accounting services firm that supports businesses across construction, manufacturing, resources, agriculture, and related industries. Our client provides comprehensive accounting, bookkeeping, financial reporting, and commercial analysis services to help their clients improve financial performance and operations.

As their business expands through recent acquisitions, they need an experienced Senior Accountant to support integration efforts and oversee day-to-day financial operations. This is a remote, independent contractor position based in the Philippines, working during Australian business hours.

Responsibilities

In this hands-on, delivery-focused role, you will:

• Take ownership of an acquired portfolio of Australian clients and ensure smooth transition
• Perform bookkeeping and accounting tasks across multiple client accounts
• Review and quality-check work completed by junior bookkeepers, providing guidance and mentorship
• Prepare and review management accounts and Business Activity Statements (BAS)
• Support the delivery of comprehensive bookkeeping and accounting services
• Progressively supervise additional offshore team members as the practice grows
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, accuracy, and efficiency using AI tools
• Work independently with a high degree of autonomy, escalating issues when appropriate

What We're Looking For

• CPA or CA qualified, or actively progressing towards qualification
• Strong accounting experience, ideally with Australian businesses
• Proven experience reviewing or supervising junior bookkeepers or accounting staff
• Confident preparing management accounts and BAS
• Strong knowledge of accounting systems such as Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, or Reckon
• Excellent attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a high-trust environment
• Interest or experience using AI tools to improve workflows

Work Schedule: This role requires alignment with Australian business hours (approximately 9 AM - 5 PM AEST, Monday to Friday). As an independent contractor, you'll have flexibility in managing your time while meeting collaboration requirements.
