About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential fintech organization in their search for a Financial Crime Investigator. This role exists because our client is experiencing continued growth and needs skilled professionals to protect customers and ensure regulatory compliance. You'll conduct critical screening checks and investigations, working with advanced tools to identify and mitigate financial crime risks.
This position is based in London/Kent with a hybrid schedule requiring three days in the office per week. You'll work standard business hours Monday through Friday, plus one weekend per month with two weekdays off in lieu.
Responsibilities
- Conduct financial crime screening checks and investigations for new applicants and existing customers
- Use screening tools to match customer data against PEPs and Sanctions lists, determining associated risks
- Review customer profile information and transactional activity to identify potential financial crime indicators
- Take appropriate action on accounts when risks are identified
- Submit internal Suspicious Activity Reports when suspicious activity is detected
- Support the Financial Crime Team with additional tasks as the business scales
- Monitor transactions and customer account activity on an ongoing basis
- Assist with onboarding reviews and escalate concerns appropriately
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, including automation and enhanced detection methods

- Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
- Proven decision-making abilities and excellent written communication skills for documenting decisions
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, applicants, and senior management
- Excellent time management skills with comfort meeting targets and deadlines
- Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within diverse teams
- Previous financial crime experience is advantageous, particularly in screening and KYC processes
- Experience identifying process improvement opportunities and implementing solutions
- Demonstrated ability to leverage data and technology to enhance fraud and financial crime detection
- Familiarity with automation and AI technologies in the context of financial crime prevention is a plus
