About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential fintech organization that has built one of the most comprehensive proprietary datasets in global debt and credit markets. Our client serves 300+ blue-chip institutions worldwide and is now expanding how their data reaches the market.

Currently, most users access this data through a web platform. However, a growing segment of enterprise buyers—quant desks, data engineering teams, systematic investors, and risk functions—need programmatic access through APIs, data feeds, and cloud-native delivery mechanisms like Snowflake. At comparable financial data providers, this channel represents 20-30% of total revenue. Our client is at the beginning of this journey.

This is a 0-to-1 build. You will define how the data gets packaged, the order in which products go to market, and the commercial models that fit each buyer segment. You will work cross-functionally across platform teams, analytics engineering, and domain squads, and closely with Sales to support a fundamentally different go-to-market motion: solution-selling with partner clients, joint POCs, and usage-based commercial models.

Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Execution

  • Define the product vision and strategy for external data distribution: APIs, data shares, and future delivery mechanisms
  • Own data catalogue decisions: which datasets to expose, in what format, through which channels, and in what order
  • Design the developer experience end-to-end: API design, documentation, developer portal, sandbox, error handling, rate limiting, and versioning
  • Work with analytics engineering and domain teams to define schemas, data models, and transformation logic
  • Use a partner model to validate early: select and work closely with 1-2 clients during development to co-develop and prove out each data product
  • Shape the commercial model for API products: packaging, tiering, usage-based pricing, distribution controls, and entitlement structures

Data Quality, Infrastructure & Compliance

  • Partner with analytics leadership to ensure data products meet reliability, freshness, and accuracy standards for enterprise clients building automated systems
  • Define SLAs for data delivery (latency, uptime, completeness) and build monitoring and metering infrastructure
  • Own the entitlements and access control layer: ensuring appropriate client access under contractual terms with usage limits and controls
  • Work with Legal to define data usage policies, including restrictions on redistribution, AI training, and onward use
  • Establish feedback loops between API consumers and domain teams so usage patterns improve the underlying data over time

Cross-Functional Leadership & GTM

  • Coordinate across platform engineering, analytics engineering, domain squads, and analytics leadership to align priorities and ship a cohesive product
  • Influence teams you do not manage; build relationships that make cross-functional delivery work despite competing priorities
  • Support the shift to a solution-selling GTM motion: work with Sales and Customer Success on partner selection, POC design, technical onboarding, and commercial structuring
  • Engage directly with enterprise clients and their technical teams during pilots and integrations
  • Communicate strategy, progress, and trade-offs transparently to leadership, engineering, and commercial teams
  • Translate technical API and data infrastructure concepts into language that non-technical stakeholders can act on

What We're Looking For

Required Experience & Skills

  • 5+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years building API products, data platforms, or data distribution products at a B2B company
  • Experience designing APIs for external consumers: schema design, versioning strategies, rate limiting, and effective developer documentation
  • Track record of shipping data products where you managed the full lifecycle: from defining what data to expose, through schema design, to commercial packaging and client onboarding
  • Understanding of data infrastructure concepts: data pipelines, warehouses, ETL/ELT, data modelling, and platforms like Snowflake
  • Comfortable with SQL and Python; capable of interrogating data to validate quality, understand usage patterns, and inform product decisions
  • Experience working in a solution-selling or partner-led GTM model: involvement in POCs, pilots, or co-development with enterprise clients
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functionally without a dedicated team: coordinate across engineering, data, and commercial functions through influence
  • Strong commercial instinct: understand how enterprise data buyers evaluate providers, and shape competitive products based on data quality, coverage, and ease of integration
  • Clear communicator who can translate between technical and commercial audiences

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with credit markets, debt instruments, or how buy-side/sell-side firms consume financial data
  • Experience with Snowflake data sharing, marketplace listings, or similar cloud data distribution mechanisms
  • Experience building entitlements, licensing, or access control systems for data products
  • Understanding of data licensing, redistribution terms, or AI usage policies in the context of enterprise data products
