Position Summary

As a Senior Java Developer - Assistant Vice President at Citi in Mississauga, you will take ownership of the design, development, and optimisation of enterprise-scale Java applications. This leadership-track role combines hands-on technical expertise with architectural decision-making, positioning you to influence the direction of our technology infrastructure. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable solutions that power our global financial services operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement sophisticated Java-based applications and services for high-volume, low-latency financial environments
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams whilst contributing code to critical initiatives
• Architect solutions that meet stringent requirements for reliability, security, and performance
• Participate in code review, technical documentation, and knowledge-sharing to elevate team capabilities
• Collaborate with product, operations, and compliance stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Optimise system performance and maintain compliance with regulatory and operational standards

What We're Looking For

• Extensive experience developing production Java applications in enterprise environments
• Strong foundation in object-oriented design, data structures, and software architecture patterns
• Demonstrated expertise with Spring Framework, microservices, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems
• Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases, version control, and CI/CD toolchains
• Experience with financial systems, payment processing, or regulated industries is advantageous
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
