Senior Product / UX Designer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a well-funded data infrastructure startup based in Berlin. Our client is building developer tools at the intersection of real-time data streaming and AI systems. As their first design hire, you'll establish the design foundations for products used by engineers worldwide.

This is a rare opportunity to join at the ground floor, working directly with technical founders and a lean engineering team to shape how developers interact with complex data infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Conduct user research, interviews, and surveys to understand developer needs and pain points
• Translate research insights into sitemaps, user flows, customer journey maps, wireframes, and mockups
• Create high-fidelity prototypes that bring the user voice into product decisions
• Collaborate directly with the CTO and engineering team on design implementation
• Partner closely with frontend engineers to ensure design feasibility and quality
• Establish design systems, patterns, and processes as the foundational design team member
• Run usability testing sessions and iterate based on feedback

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of experience as a product or UX designer, ideally working on developer tools
• Strong proficiency in Figma or comparable prototyping tools
• Demonstrated ability to conduct user testing and apply user research methodologies
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, particularly software engineers
• Background working in fast-growing or early-stage startup environments
• Clear, efficient communication style suited to technical audiences
• Comfort with ambiguity and building design foundations from scratch
