Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology organization in München that is scaling a telemedicine platform used daily by medical professionals and their patients across Europe. As Staff Software Engineer, you will own the technical direction of a full-stack web application and its underlying services running on AWS.

You will work as an individual contributor with real technical authority—no direct reports, but responsibility for setting architectural direction and engineering standards while building in the same codebase as the rest of the team.

  • Own and evolve the architecture of the full-stack platform—frontend, backend, data layer, and AWS infrastructure—under active product pressure without requiring full rewrites
  • Define and maintain the testing strategy across unit, integration, and end-to-end coverage; decide what not to test and keep test suites fast enough that engineers run them consistently
  • Advance tooling and guardrails for AI-assisted coding practices that accelerate delivery without shipping unverified code to production
  • Collaborate with product leadership to identify pragmatic solutions and clearly communicate when proposed features are not worth the engineering cost
  • Ensure what ships is operable and auditable by design to meet regulatory standards (ISO 27001, ISO 13485) without creating process overhead
  • Jump into urgent problems—scaling bottlenecks, broken integrations, production incidents—and implement durable fixes

What We're Looking For

Our client needs an engineer with roughly 7+ years of professional software development experience, most of it on production systems serving real users at scale.

  • Deep hands-on experience across the full stack: strong frontend skills, comfortable in backend systems, and able to work confidently with infrastructure and modern web technologies
  • Strong background in TypeScript with well-formed technical opinions you can articulate and defend
  • Clear product focus—you care about what ships, what runs reliably in production, and what users actually experience
  • Fluent English (C1 level or higher); German is a plus
  • Experience in a startup or scale-up environment where both speed and quality mattered
  • Comfort taking ownership of undefined processes and shaping them from scratch
  • A degree in a STEM field or equivalent practical experience
  • Exposure to regulated software development, medical devices, or health data is valuable but not required

If you match most of these criteria, please apply. Our talent team would rather review your application than have you self-select out.
