About This Opportunity

We are representing a fast-growing robotics technology company that is building a modern, cloud-native platform for industrial automation. Our client is expanding their engineering team to develop a critical piece of infrastructure: a camera integration framework that will enable scalable device management across their platform.

As a Senior Software Engineer focused on Camera Integration, you will design and implement the foundation for bringing vision hardware into a Kubernetes-based robotics ecosystem. Rather than building one-off integrations, you'll create the architecture, SDK, and interfaces that allow both internal teams and third-party manufacturers to integrate cameras efficiently and reliably.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role based in Dresden, Germany, where you'll work at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, backend systems, and industrial vision.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a scalable camera integration framework for a cloud-native robotics platform running on Kubernetes
  • Build production-ready camera drivers and device interfaces as reference implementations
  • Create SDKs and developer tooling that enable camera manufacturers and internal teams to integrate new devices with minimal effort
  • Define APIs and versioning strategies for hardware abstraction layers
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, robotics, and product engineering teams to integrate vision capabilities into the broader platform
  • Work with hardware partners and camera vendors to establish integration patterns and best practices
  • Take ownership of architectural decisions and drive projects from concept through production deployment
  • Ensure the framework supports diverse use cases from vision-guided robotics to AI-driven applications

What We're Looking For

Core Requirements:

  • Several years of experience building backend systems using languages such as Python or Go
  • Proven experience with API design and versioning
  • Strong foundation in containerized software development and Kubernetes-based deployments
  • Ability to own architecture, make technical decisions independently, and deliver complete solutions
  • Deep expertise in at least one of these domains:
    • Industrial vision and camera integration in production automation systems
    • Camera software development, SDKs, or device interface design
    • Cloud-native hardware platforms, including Kubernetes device management and custom resources

Valuable Additional Experience:

  • Extending Kubernetes using Custom Resources, Operators, or Controllers
  • Kubernetes networking for hardware and network-attached devices
  • Abstracting vendor SDKs behind unified interfaces
  • Linux device management and exposing hardware into containers
  • Industrial cameras, media pipelines, or camera communication protocols
  • Computer vision concepts including calibration, depth imaging, and point clouds
  • Video streaming and media handling
  • Robotics or industrial automation background

What Success Looks Like:

You enjoy building platforms that others build upon. You're comfortable navigating ambiguity and creating systems with excellent developer experience. You prefer designing frameworks over implementing one-off solutions.
