Data Scientist – Inference, Community Support

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology client seeking a Data Scientist specializing in Causal Inference to join their customer support operations team. This fully remote role offers the opportunity to drive high-impact decisions through advanced statistical modeling and experimentation, working at the intersection of AI-powered products, service optimization, and operational excellence.

You'll partner with engineering, product, design, and operations teams to build causal inference frameworks that measure intervention impact, optimize resource allocation, and uncover strategic insights that shape how millions of users experience support services.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement rigorous experiments and quasi-experimental frameworks to measure causal impact of product launches and inform data-driven launch decisions
• Build causal machine learning models to optimize budget allocation and maximize business outcomes
• Conduct causal inference analyses to quantify long-term effects of product changes and identify heterogeneous treatment effects across user segments
• Develop frameworks to analyze tradeoffs between competing objectives including accuracy, coverage, user experience, and operational cost
• Build, evaluate, and iterate on causal ML models that power high-stakes decisions, applying best practices across the full model lifecycle from feature engineering to production deployment
• Deliver strategic insights on quality-cost tradeoffs to empower leadership decision-making
• Communicate complex findings clearly to stakeholders of varying technical levels, translating analyses into compelling narratives that drive impact
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, operations, and analytics partners to drive innovation and platform improvements

What We're Looking For

• Master's degree in a quantitative field (statistics, economics, computer science, mathematics, or related) with 2+ years of industry experience in quantitative analysis, or PhD in relevant field
• Strong expertise in causal inference methodologies and experimental design
• Deep knowledge of Bayesian modeling and statistical inference techniques
• Hands-on experience building and deploying statistical or machine learning models in production environments
• Proficiency in statistical programming languages (Python or R) and SQL for database usage
• Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Track record of translating complex analytical findings into actionable business recommendations
• Strong project management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive clarity in complex problem spaces
