Staff Software Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology organization in their search for a Staff Software Engineer to join their distributed team in the United States. Our client is building critical data infrastructure that enables secure information exchange across the healthcare ecosystem. This is a high-impact technical leadership role where you'll shape architectural direction, drive innovation across engineering teams, and solve large-scale distributed systems challenges.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead multi-team technical strategies for scalability and interoperability across the platform
• Design frameworks and reusable systems used by multiple engineering pods throughout the organization
• Establish engineering patterns and architectural standards adopted company-wide
• Drive cross-functional initiatives in data architecture, security, and reliability
• Advise leadership on technical direction, major tradeoffs, and strategic technology decisions
• Represent engineering in executive-level technical planning and decision-making
• Mentor senior engineers and influence cultural and architectural evolution across teams
• Translate strategic objectives into scalable engineering execution plans
• Champion enterprise-grade reliability, security, and compliance as shared engineering responsibilities

What We're Looking For

Required Experience:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated system design mastery
• Deep expertise with large-scale distributed systems and multi-cloud architectures
• Proven experience designing and implementing high-scale data pipelines and workflows
• Strong background in security frameworks including OAuth2/SAML, encryption, and tokenization
• Track record of organizational influence and aligning teams across multiple verticals

Technical Skills (Multi-Cloud Environment):

• Backend: Python, Go, Java; microservices architecture; REST and GraphQL APIs
• Frontend: TypeScript, React, Next.js for full-stack work as needed
• Infrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, infrastructure-as-code tooling
• Data Platforms: Snowflake, Spark, SQL, S3; enterprise data engineering workflows
• ETL & Orchestration: Airflow or AWS Glue
• Streaming: Kafka or Kinesis for real-time data ingestion
• Observability: DataDog, Grafana, CloudWatch and enterprise telemetry systems
• Security: Zero-trust security frameworks and compliance-focused architecture
