Infrastructure Software Engineer, Apps Platform

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential AI technology organization seeking an Infrastructure Software Engineer to join their Apps Platform team in London. In this role, you'll build and evolve deployment and observability layers across multiple cloud providers and on-premises environments, serving both internal teams and customer-managed deployments.

You'll work on cloud-agnostic infrastructure and deployment pipelines, partnering closely with internal stakeholders to understand their platform usage, debug issues, and shape a roadmap that balances immediate needs with long-term architecture goals.

Responsibilities

• Expand platform deployment footprint across on-premise environments and all major cloud platforms
• Ensure fast, secure, and reproducible deployments across all supported cloud service providers and on-premises infrastructure
• Enhance platform observability so forward-deployed infrastructure teams can efficiently operate customer deployments
• Collaborate with internal teams deploying the platform to understand requirements, troubleshoot issues, and build supporting tooling
• Respond to incidents and production issues with urgency, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures
• Contribute to developing and maintaining product roadmap for deployment and observability
• Lead architecture reviews and own projects end-to-end in fast-paced cross-functional environments

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience building and deploying enterprise and public sector solutions across AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI and on-premises environments
• Deep expertise in infrastructure design, networking engineering, VPNs, load balancers, and firewalls
• Deep proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, containerisation and orchestration tools (Kubernetes, Terraform, Docker)
• Comprehensive understanding of CI/CD pipelines and software delivery principles using GitHub Actions or CircleCI
• Experience with GitOps-style deployments and proven track record of ensuring consistent, repeatable deployments
• Strong debugging skills and ability to navigate performance/security tradeoffs in production systems
• Comfort with ambiguity and ability to context-switch between reactive incident work and proactive product development

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience as a founder or early engineer at an infrastructure-focused startup, owning a product end-to-end
• Experience running secure workloads in multi-tenant or untrusted environments (e.g., FaaS, CI sandboxes, remote notebooks)
• Open-source contributions to systems or developer-tools projects
• History of on-call/incident response for production systems
