Senior Platform Engineer – Reporting Systems

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential B2B SaaS organization serving finance professionals across North America. They build financial reporting and analytics solutions that integrate tightly with Excel and SQL Server environments.

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer – Reporting Systems for a remote role based in Argentina. This is a hands-on individual contributor position for an experienced engineer who genuinely enjoys writing production code while applying architectural thinking to complex data and reporting challenges.

You will work across the full stack—Excel add-ins, cloud APIs, on-premise connector services, SQL Server optimization, and modern front-end layers—while helping shape how the platform evolves to serve finance teams handling complex data workflows.

Note: Native or near-native English language skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain an Excel Web Add-in for both Excel Online and desktop environments used by finance professionals
• Develop cloud APIs that orchestrate report execution, parameter handling, and result delivery
• Build and evolve a secure on-premise connector service for customer SQL Server access and cloud infrastructure integration
• Design, tune, and optimize SQL queries, schemas, and execution plans for reporting and analytics workloads
• Ensure system-wide reliability, performance, and security across all platform components
• Translate business and reporting requirements into clear technical designs and executable system architectures
• Define system boundaries, component responsibilities, and data flows for evolving platform capabilities
• Decompose larger technical initiatives into well-scoped, sequenced deliverables
• Review designs and code implementations from other developers on the team
• Establish practical standards for performance optimization, security practices, and long-term maintainability
• Contribute to AI-assisted features including reporting assistance, metadata generation, and semantic interpretation
• Partner with product and business stakeholders as a technical advisor and translator

What We're Looking For

• 8–12 years of software development experience with significant time spent on complex production systems
• Genuine architecture experience—not theoretical. You can diagram system components, data flows, and boundaries for systems you have personally built
• Strong.NET / ASP.NET Core backend development (primary preference); deep Node.js/TypeScript expertise also considered
• Advanced SQL Server skills including query performance tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing strategies, stored procedures, and reporting-oriented schema design
• Front-end development capability using TypeScript and React or equivalent modern framework
• Experience with Excel add-ins using Office.js or VSTO strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience with large-scale, data-intensive systems—not simple CRUD applications or narrow feature work
• Familiarity with Azure fundamentals, CI/CD pipelines, and production diagnostics tooling
• Experience building AI-assisted features or integrating LLM capabilities into production environments strongly preferred
• Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken
• Comfortable working independently with abstract requirements in a high-ownership, low-process environment
