About This Opportunity
We are representing a well-funded technology company transforming the homebuilding industry. Our client has developed a browser-based design platform used by builders nationwide to create residential plans at scale. We're seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the core authoring environment where 2D and 3D building models, plans, and design options are created.
This role sits at the foundation of the product ecosystem—the authoring surface feeds data to estimating, sales configurators, and construction documentation systems. You'll define how drafters and designers interact with plans, elevations, and catalogs of building components in a high-performance browser environment.
Responsibilities
- Own the product vision, roadmap, and execution for the 2D and 3D design authoring workflow, including plan editing, elevation management, and option cataloging at scale
- Conduct hands-on discovery with drafters and internal power users—observing actual workflows rather than gathering feature requests from meetings
- Partner with engineering teams on the API contracts between the building model backend and the browser-based interaction and rendering layers
- Define and enforce quality thresholds critical to design tools: interaction latency, geometric accuracy, and undo/redo integrity, even under schedule pressure
- Track and improve activation metrics (time-to-first-plan for new users), authoring throughput, plan reuse rates, and model data correctness
- Guide how the authoring environment opens to adjacent personas (estimators, purchasing, sales) without compromising the drafter experience
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of product management experience shipping modern software products
- Proven track record delivering complex, interactive applications with measurable user impact—ideally authoring tools, editors, CAD/BIM software, or configurators
- Technical fluency: you review architecture diagrams, reason about data models, and make engineering tradeoffs directly rather than deferring technical decisions
- Judgment to distinguish trust-eroding defects from cosmetic issues in production tools
- Experience prototyping to validate concepts quickly using tools like Cursor, Replit, or similar rapid development environments
- Clear communication across engineering, design, and business stakeholders, with the ability to articulate hard tradeoffs and build alignment
- Exposure to CAD or BIM platforms (Revit, Rhino, SketchUp) or browser-based 3D tooling (Three.js, WebGL)
Bonus qualifications:
- Professional experience in residential construction, homebuilding, or architecture—familiarity with plan sets, elevations, design options, and how builders manage variation across product lines
- Experience shipping AI-assisted features inside authoring or design tools
