OMNI Consulting Solutions is hiring a full-time Satellite Subsystem System Engineer (SETA) in Chantilly, Virginia to provide technical support for a critical national security space program. In this senior-level role, you will serve as the Government Program Office's primary technical expert for spacecraft subsystem development, integration, testing, and operational readiness throughout the program lifecycle.
Role Overview
This Systems Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) position places you at the center of a critical national security space initiative. You will function as the Government Program Office's senior technical representative, providing independent oversight and expert guidance on one or more spacecraft subsystems throughout the full acquisition and development lifecycle. Working across contractor teams, Government leadership, and SETA specialists, you'll help translate mission requirements into verified spacecraft capabilities that advance critical national security objectives.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Lead Government Program Office technical oversight of assigned spacecraft subsystem development, assembly, qualification, and deployment activities from design maturity through mission operations
- Engage in contractor-led Integrated Product Teams, technical reviews, and program milestone assessments to monitor progress and identify technical paths forward
- Review contractor engineering work—including subsystem designs, analysis reports, test strategies, and test findings—to evaluate technical soundness and requirements compliance
- Assess subsystem performance with contractor engineering staff, surface technical obstacles, and recommend engineering solutions that advance mission success
- Conduct independent technical evaluations alongside SETA Subject Matter Experts to validate subsystem designs, engineering justifications, verification data, and on-orbit performance
- Align subsystem development activities with mission engineering teams to ensure technical efforts support operational objectives and program timelines
- Flag technical risks, integration gaps, verification gaps, and schedule pressures that could jeopardize mission readiness or launch success, and communicate findings to Government decision-makers
- Maintain visibility into subsystem progress and deliver regular technical briefings to Government and enterprise leadership across review forums
- Support engineering assessments, technical trade studies, and acquisition decisions throughout the program's development
- Build working expertise in multiple spacecraft subsystems to support mission anomaly investigation, performance troubleshooting, and spacecraft health assessments
Skills & Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI security clearance with Polygraph (required to begin work)
- U.S. Citizenship (required)
- Proven senior-level systems engineering experience with spacecraft or satellite subsystems
- Technical expertise in spacecraft development, integration, test, and verification disciplines
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical oversight, evaluate contractor work, and communicate technical findings to Government leadership
- Strong collaborative skills with Government, contractor, and SETA teams across complex technical programs
- Experience assessing technical risk, integration challenges, and schedule impacts on space programs
- Knowledge of space mission operations or spacecraft on-orbit performance (preferred)
