William Osler Health System is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our Medicine Oncology team in Brampton, ON, CA. As a Contract RPN, you will provide essential patient care and support to individuals receiving cancer treatment and ongoing medical management.
Position Summary
As a Registered Practical Nurse in our Medicine Oncology department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care to individuals with cancer. Working alongside physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals, you will contribute to comprehensive patient management, comfort, and treatment support throughout their healthcare journey at William Osler Health System.
Core Duties
- Provide direct patient care including monitoring vital signs, hygiene assistance, and comfort measures
- Support medication administration and ensure proper patient education regarding treatment plans
- Document patient observations and clinical progress accurately in medical records
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure coordinated, patient-centred care
- Respond to patient needs and concerns with compassion and professionalism
- Maintain strict infection control and safety protocols in accordance with hospital standards
- Assist patients with activities of daily living and mobility as clinically appropriate
- Support oncology-specific procedures while upholding patient dignity and confidentiality
Requirements
- Current Registered Practical Nurse licence or registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification
- Diploma from a recognized Practical Nursing program or equivalent qualification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative healthcare environment
- Compassion, empathy, and genuine commitment to patient dignity and comfort
- Adaptability and resilience in a dynamic clinical setting
- Professional liability insurance as required by the province of Ontario
