GitOps Engineering Manager

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential open-source technology organization seeking a GitOps Engineering Manager to lead a distributed devops team in APAC or EMEA. This is a remote role working with cutting-edge infrastructure-as-code practices across cloud, virtualization, and Kubernetes environments.

You'll manage a high-performance engineering team responsible for devops automation, model-driven operations, and managed service delivery. This position combines technical leadership, operations management, and team development in a global distributed environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead a distributed devops engineering team using agile methodologies and daily standups
• Represent infrastructure and operations teams to internal stakeholders and customers
• Organize and drive cross-functional projects from planning through delivery
• Mentor engineers on technical skills, code quality, and operations best practices
• Track and improve team health metrics and performance indicators
• Implement structured engineering processes for consistent service delivery
• Ensure team alignment on priorities, milestones, and key deliverables
• Meet service level agreements for globally distributed customer deployments
• Deliver managed services with quality and consistency

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Proven track record managing devops or SRE teams for SaaS or managed service environments
• Hands-on experience delivering infrastructure automation using infrastructure-as-code tools
• Technical depth to understand complex distributed systems and cloud architectures
• Strong understanding of testing methodologies and maintainable code standards
• Experience with public cloud platforms and cloud-native topologies
• Demonstrated ability to exceed expectations and drive results
• Strong academic background
• Ability to travel internationally twice per year for team meetings (up to two weeks each)

Preferred experience:

• Linux system administration, particularly Debian-based distributions
• Agile and Scrum development methodologies
• Leading and working with fully distributed, remote-first teams
• Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native operations
