Overview

We are representing a confidential cloud development platform company in their search for a Senior DevOps Engineer based in the United Kingdom. Our client is a fast-growing organization that serves customers ranging from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies, operating with distributed teams across multiple countries.

Responsibilities

  • Own internal cloud infrastructure and serve as the primary point of contact for cloud operations and infrastructure requests
  • Manage and continuously improve multi-account cloud environments, ensuring security, governance, and compliance best practices
  • Support and maintain compliance with SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 standards, preparing audit evidence continuously
  • Operate and improve identity and access management, including SSO, MFA, permissions, and user lifecycle processes
  • Maintain and monitor self-hosted internal services, ensuring service level agreements are met and vulnerabilities are tracked and resolved
  • Monitor security and health of cloud environments through continuous posture management and proactive risk identification
  • Own infrastructure cost management and help teams identify cost or reliability risks proactively
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve reliability, scalability, and operational excellence

What We're Looking For

  • Deep AWS experience at organizational level: Organizations, Control Tower, multi-account landing zones, IAM/SCPs, Security Hub/GuardDuty, VPC and multi-AZ networking
  • Infrastructure as Code expertise with real depth in at least one tool (Terraform/OpenTofu, CDK, Pulumi) including module design, state management, and promotion between environments
  • Understanding of how to evolve existing systems toward compliance with SOC 2 / ISO 27001 standards
  • Experience with internal workforce identity and access: IdP-backed SSO/MFA, centralized access management, automated joiner/mover/leaver processes
  • Proven track record self-hosting and operating shared internal tooling that other teams depend on
  • Observability and alerting design experience, plus on-call experience in distributed team environments
  • Cloud cost management and FinOps fundamentals
  • Proficiency in Bash, Python and/or Go for tooling development
  • Comfortable with ambiguity in a remote-first environment
  • Azure experience is a nice-to-have but not required
