About the Role

As a Senior Staff Engineer, IC Architect at Renesas Electronics in Bengaluru, you will drive architectural decisions and innovation across complex semiconductor designs. This role demands deep expertise in integrated circuit design methodology, with responsibility for defining the technical direction of high-performance chip architectures. You'll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to translate business requirements into elegant, manufacturable silicon solutions that meet performance, power, and area targets.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Define and refine IC architectural specifications, including microarchitecture, memory hierarchy, and system-level integration strategies
• Lead technical reviews and design trade-off analyses to optimise performance, power consumption, and silicon area
• Collaborate with physical design, verification, and manufacturing teams to ensure architectural feasibility and yield optimisation
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering technical excellence and architectural thinking across the design team
• Evaluate emerging technologies, design methodologies, and industry standards to maintain competitive architectural advantage
• Develop detailed architectural documentation, design guidelines, and reference implementations for downstream design teams

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of proven experience in IC design, with substantial focus on architectural work and chip-level design decisions
• Deep expertise in digital circuit design, computer architecture, and semiconductor design flow
• Strong proficiency with hardware description languages (Verilog, SystemVerilog, or equivalent) and logic simulation
• Demonstrated expertise in performance modelling, power analysis, and timing closure methodologies
• Experience with advanced semiconductor technologies and understanding of process node trade-offs
• Excellent communication skills and proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority
• Master's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline (or equivalent industry experience)
