About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential fintech organization seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join their fraud detection and prevention team in Brazil. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated machine learning models that protect financial systems and contribute to product development in a high-impact domain.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze client data and develop machine learning models for fraud detection, including data cleaning, preprocessing, feature engineering, and model tuning
  • Build and maintain scalable data pipelines using tools such as Airflow and Trino to support production models
  • Collaborate with product and research teams to align technical solutions with business objectives
  • Provide technical leadership on data science projects, driving execution from concept through deployment
  • Work directly with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and ensure successful implementation
  • Communicate complex analytical findings and strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Stay current with fraud prevention trends and contribute to generalized product enhancements
  • Develop prototypes and contribute to solution development that can scale across the platform

What We're Looking For

  • Strong proficiency in Python, including scientific libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, and scikit-learn
  • Expertise in machine learning concepts, algorithms, and their practical application
  • Experience with distributed computing tools like PySpark for handling large-scale data
  • Proven ability in data cleaning, feature engineering, and building production-ready data pipelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in tackling complex financial crime challenges
  • Degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related discipline
  • Experience working with client-facing roles and translating business needs into technical solutions
