Position Summary

As a Surgical Technologist with Northwestern Memorial Healthcare in Palos Heights, you will play a vital role in the operating room, preparing patients and supporting surgeons and nursing staff throughout surgical procedures. This part-time position offers day shift availability through our flexible registry model, allowing you to maintain work-life balance while delivering essential patient care in a collaborative medical setting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by organizing surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to established sterile protocols
• Maintain strict sterile technique and infection control standards throughout all surgical procedures
• Assist surgical teams by passing instruments and materials during operations and responding to real-time needs
• Monitor and ensure patient safety protocols are followed throughout the surgical process
• Maintain accurate documentation and instrument counts related to each procedure
• Clean, sterilize, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment following procedures
• Adapt flexibly to changing surgical schedules and evolving patient care demands

Requirements

• Current Surgical Technologist certification (CST) or equivalent credential
• Active Illinois state licensure or registration in compliance with regulatory requirements
• Demonstrated knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and surgical instrumentation
• Ability to remain focused and composed in a high-acuity operating room environment
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to work effectively with surgical teams
• Physical capability to stand for extended periods and perform precise, detailed work
