Private Equity Operations Manager / Operations Director (m/w/d)

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential private equity firm seeking an Operations Manager or Operations Director for their growing operations team in München. This role offers a unique trajectory: you'll drive operational improvements across portfolio companies with the clear path to step into C-level management positions (CEO, COO, CXO) within a few years, including potential equity participation.

The essential requirement is a genuine desire to work operatively in mid-market companies. You must be ready to roll up your sleeves in a hands-on, practical environment and take ownership across diverse challenges.

Responsibilities

• Lead operational improvement projects across portfolio companies, focusing on process optimization and sustainable value creation
• Drive growth initiatives and implement efficiency improvements in mid-market businesses
• Depending on experience and situation, assume temporary leadership roles within portfolio companies (e.g., Head of Marketing, Supply Chain, Sales, or Production)
• Support transaction activities on both buy-side and sell-side processes, including commercial due diligence execution
• Maintain high on-site presence at portfolio companies to ensure effective project delivery

What We're Looking For

• Successful completion of a business or technical degree from a top-tier university
• Either: 5+ years at a leading strategy consulting firm
• Or: 3+ years top-tier management consulting combined with 2+ years in industry, including initial operational leadership experience
• Strong digital affinity; experience with digital transformation projects highly valued
• Analytical problem-solving approach combined with entrepreneurial execution strength
• Pronounced affinity for mid-market environments (hands-on mentality, strong communication skills)
• Fluent German and English, written and spoken
• Willingness to travel and work flexibly; significant on-site presence at portfolio companies is expected
