Boiler Mechanic MD Grade 1

Dexterra is hiring a Boiler Mechanic MD Grade 1 to join our team in Beltsville, MD. This is a full-time position for a skilled, certified mechanic to maintain, install, and repair boiler systems while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Role Overview

As a Boiler Mechanic MD Grade 1, you'll perform skilled mechanical work on a range of boiler equipment and related systems. This role requires Maryland state certification and typically involves independent problem-solving, routine maintenance, emergency repair response, and coordination with other trades. You'll be responsible for diagnosing issues, executing repairs safely, and documenting all work to code and record-keeping requirements.

Core Duties

• Inspect, test, and maintain boiler systems to identify defects and ensure safe operation
• Perform preventive maintenance schedules and conduct routine service calls
• Diagnose mechanical faults using industry-standard tools and testing equipment
• Repair or replace components including burners, controls, gaskets, and pressure vessels
• Ensure all work meets applicable building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations
• Prepare accurate work reports and maintain detailed service documentation
• Respond to emergency calls and provide troubleshooting support as needed

Skills & Qualifications

• Valid Maryland Boiler Mechanic Grade 1 license or certification
• Proven experience in boiler installation, maintenance, and repair
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
• Knowledge of gas, oil, and water-side boiler systems
• Understanding of HVAC principles, pressure regulation, and combustion control
• Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer specifications
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to safety protocols
