Fire Alarm Tech

Dexterra is hiring a Fire Alarm Tech for our Beltsville, MD office to join our facilities and maintenance operations team. This is a full-time position based on-site in Beltsville.

Role Overview

As a Fire Alarm Technician at Dexterra, you'll be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of fire alarm and life safety systems across our portfolio of properties. This hands-on role combines technical expertise with customer service, ensuring that all systems meet code requirements and function reliably to protect lives and property.

What You'll Do

• Install and configure fire alarm systems, including control panels, sensors, notification devices, and integration with building management systems
• Conduct routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance to ensure systems remain in compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards
• Diagnose and repair malfunctioning equipment, identify root causes, and implement lasting solutions
• Document all work performed, including system configurations, test results, and maintenance records
• Communicate with building managers, property owners, and other contractors to coordinate service and minimize downtime
• Stay current with evolving fire safety codes and technology standards relevant to the Beltsville, MD area and broader region

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Proficiency with fire alarm systems, including knowledge of addressable and conventional systems
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation
• Physical capability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
• Relevant certifications (such as NICET Fire Alarm Technician certification) strongly preferred
