Head Start Teacher

York County Community Action Corp is hiring a full-time Head Start Teacher to join our Biddeford team. In this role, you'll lead classroom learning experiences and build partnerships with families while supporting the social, emotional, and academic growth of young children—plus receive a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Role Overview

We're seeking a dedicated Head Start Teacher to create meaningful educational experiences for young learners in our Biddeford program. This full-time position allows you to develop age-appropriate learning activities, nurture children's development across all domains, and establish strong partnerships with families. As a key member of York County Community Action Corp's team, you'll deliver quality early education services and support our mission of strengthening families and expanding opportunity throughout the community.

Core Duties

• Design and implement curriculum activities that support children's social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development
• Assess and document each child's progress and individual learning needs
• Build collaborative relationships with families and engage parents in their child's learning and growth
• Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, welcoming classroom environment that meets Head Start standards
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary team members including social workers, health professionals, and other specialists
• Participate in professional development training and contribute to staff meetings and program planning

Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or higher in early childhood education or child development preferred
• Understanding of early childhood development, developmentally appropriate practice, and Head Start program requirements
• Demonstrated ability to build warm, respectful relationships with children, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds
• Strong verbal and written communication and organizational abilities
• Experience working in early childhood education or community-based settings preferred
• Current or ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification
• Eligibility to pass federal background clearance as required for Head Start positions
