Hanover County Government is hiring a Utility Technician (CD)- Electrical/Mechanical Division 13 for full-time employment in Mangohick, Hanover County. This hands-on technical role sits within our Career Development Program, offering direct experience maintaining and repairing the electrical, mechanical, and utility systems that serve the county.

About the Role

You'll perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting across multiple utility infrastructure areas: electrical and mechanical systems, utility construction, sewer collection operations, and distribution operations. This position provides practical, field-based experience and a clear pathway to specialize and advance within the utility sector.

What You'll Do

• Execute routine repairs and preventive maintenance on electrical, mechanical, and utility equipment
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and troubleshoot system failures in the field
• Support utility construction projects and infrastructure maintenance work
• Participate in sewer collection and distribution system operations
• Inspect systems, test equipment function, and document maintenance activities
• Operate specialized tools and equipment in compliance with safety standards
• Maintain meticulous records and communicate findings to supervisors and teams
• Respond to maintenance schedules and service requests promptly
• Work collaboratively with experienced technicians and other county departments
