Join New Jersey Reentry Corporation as a Legal Services Coordinator / Case Manager in Carteret, Middlesex County. This full-time position is part of our Institutional Enrollment Team, where you'll support court-involved individuals on their path toward employment, stability, and successful reentry into their communities.
About the Role
New Jersey Reentry Corporation is a mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to removing barriers to employment for people with criminal justice involvement. We work directly with court-involved citizens to provide resources, coaching, and advocacy that enable them to rebuild their lives. As our Legal Services Coordinator / Case Manager, you'll bridge legal guidance and personalized case management to help participants navigate the reentry process while maintaining focus on employment readiness and community integration.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate and deliver legal services support tailored to participant needs, including guidance on expungement, record relief, and other legal matters affecting employment
- Manage individual cases with attention to legal status, barriers to employment, and community reintegration milestones
- Conduct intake assessments, develop case plans, and track progress toward participant goals
- Connect participants with external legal resources, including attorneys and advocacy organizations, when specialized expertise is required
- Maintain thorough, organized case documentation and generate reports on participant outcomes
- Collaborate with employment specialists, recruiters, and community partners to ensure comprehensive support
- Support institutional enrollment efforts, particularly with populations involved in the criminal justice system
What We're Looking For
- Background in law, legal studies, or related field; paralegal experience highly valued
- Strong knowledge of criminal justice, reentry issues, and legal pathways to employment
- Excellent case management, organization, and documentation skills
- Proven ability to communicate clearly with diverse populations, including those with limited legal knowledge
- Compassion for individuals navigating the justice system and genuine commitment to supporting their success
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
- Proficiency with case management systems and basic computer applications
