Role Overview

As an 8th Grade English Language Arts educator at C.M. Eppes Middle School, you'll lead engaging instruction in reading, writing, communication, and critical thinking. Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver standards-aligned ELA lessons that build reading comprehension, writing proficiency, and communication skills
• Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, adjusting instruction to meet diverse learning needs
• Create an inclusive, welcoming classroom environment that encourages active participation and intellectual growth
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and evidence-based instructional practices
• Communicate regularly with families about student progress, strengths, and areas for growth
• Participate in professional development and school initiatives that advance student achievement
• Support students' social-emotional development and foster a sense of belonging in the classroom

Requirements

• Valid North Carolina teaching license or eligibility for ELA certification
• Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or related field
• Knowledge of middle school ELA standards and literacy instruction approaches
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to build positive student relationships
• Capacity to differentiate instruction and support students at varying achievement levels
• Commitment to creating an equitable and inclusive learning environment for all students
