Alleghany County Schools in Sparta, Alleghany County, is recruiting full-time Substitute Pre-K Teachers to support our early childhood programs on an as-needed basis throughout the 2025/2026 school year.
Position Summary
As a Substitute Pre-K Teacher, you'll create welcoming learning environments where young students grow both academically and personally. Working under general supervision, you'll step into classrooms across our district when regular teachers are absent, providing continuity and care. This as-needed substitute position offers flexibility while directly impacting students' foundational years.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain an inviting classroom environment that nurtures personal growth
- Support educationally disadvantaged students by fostering positive attitudes toward learning
- Develop and reinforce foundational skills and knowledge aligned with Pre-K standards
- Follow daily lesson plans and classroom procedures established by permanent staff
- Maintain a safe, respectful learning space and manage classroom behavior
- Communicate with school staff about student progress and classroom activities
Who We're Looking For
- Valid teaching certification or eligibility for substitute teaching in North Carolina
- Experience or strong interest in working with Pre-K and early childhood learners
- Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom environments and settings
- Commitment to supporting all students, especially those facing educational challenges
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
