The Opportunity
This full-time position offers a meaningful career in federal law enforcement with the U.S. Border Patrol, one of the nation's largest uniformed law enforcement agencies. As a Border Patrol Agent at the GL-5/7 grade levels, you'll engage in frontline border security operations, conducting patrols, investigations, and enforcement activities across the challenging terrain and international boundary of southern New Mexico. Your Responsibilities
- Conduct vehicle and foot patrols along designated border sectors to detect and prevent illegal entry and smuggling activities
- Interview, detain, and process individuals encountered during enforcement operations, maintaining accurate documentation and records
- Investigate suspected violations of immigration and customs laws, gathering evidence and preparing reports for prosecution
- Monitor and assess risk threats at the border, utilizing surveillance equipment and intelligence to inform operational decisions
- Operate patrol vehicles and law enforcement equipment in varied terrain and weather conditions, including remote desert environments
- Collaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies to coordinate border security initiatives
What You Bring
- U.S. citizenship and a valid state driver's license
- Correctable vision and hearing suitable for law enforcement work
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or Top Secret security clearance
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform demanding field work in diverse environments
- Strong communication and decision-making skills, with sound judgment under pressure
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require
