Commit to serve your city year as an Academic Mentor with City Year in Westmont, Los Angeles County. This full-time, paid AmeriCorps position offers the opportunity to work directly with students, building academic confidence and helping them achieve meaningful educational success.

About the Role

City Year AmeriCorps Members are student-centered educators who provide intensive academic support and mentorship in partnership with public schools. As an Academic Mentor, you'll combine classroom collaboration with one-on-one coaching to help students overcome barriers to learning and build the confidence they need to succeed.

What You'll Do

• Deliver personalized academic coaching and tutoring to individual students and small groups
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to reinforce instruction and support learning goals
• Develop and strengthen study skills, academic habits, and time management strategies
• Build relationships with students that foster engagement, motivation, and resilience
• Track student progress and communicate outcomes with families and school staff
• Support whole-school initiatives and classroom activities that enhance the learning environment
• Provide mentorship in academic and social-emotional development
