Target Security Specialist

Target is hiring a full-time Security Specialist in Bedford, Hillsborough County, to join our Assets Protection team and help safeguard our guests, team members, and store operations.

About the Role

As a Security Specialist in Assets Protection, you'll be the frontline guardian of store security and loss prevention. You'll monitor activities, respond to incidents, and collaborate across teams to create a safe, secure environment where guests and team members can thrive. This is a hands-on position focused on real-time vigilance and proactive risk management.

What You'll Do

• Monitor store activity using security systems and physical surveillance to identify and prevent loss or security concerns
• Respond to incidents, conduct investigations, and document findings according to Target protocols and legal requirements
• Patrol store premises, back-of-house areas, and parking facilities to deter theft and maintain a visible security presence
• Work with store leadership and team members to implement loss prevention strategies and awareness initiatives
• Identify and report suspicious behavior, unauthorized activity, or security vulnerabilities
• Assist with guest and employee safety matters, including emergency procedures and conflict de-escalation
• Maintain detailed logs and reports for audit and compliance purposes

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education
• Strong observational and analytical skills with attention to detail
• Ability to remain calm, professional, and objective under pressure
• Experience in security, loss prevention, retail operations, or related field (preferred)
• Knowledge of surveillance systems, access control, and security protocols (or willingness to learn)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol throughout the store and facilities
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Valid identification and ability to pass a background check
