About the Role

As a Digital Relay Design Engineer, you'll develop cutting-edge protection and control systems that safeguard electrical infrastructure and enable reliable power delivery across the nation. Your work will directly support Constellation's mission to generate clean, dependable energy while advancing grid modernization efforts. Based in our Bryansville facility, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to translate complex electrical requirements into robust, tested relay designs.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and validate digital relay algorithms and firmware for protective relaying applications
• Conduct thorough testing and simulation of relay systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and operational requirements
• Analyze power system performance data and relay response to optimize protection coordination and response times
• Document technical specifications, design methodologies, and test procedures for internal and regulatory review
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, system operators, and project teams to integrate relay designs into broader infrastructure initiatives
• Support commissioning and troubleshooting of relay systems in production environments
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices in digital protection systems

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field
• Strong foundation in power systems, protective relaying, and electrical protection principles
• Experience with digital relay design tools, simulation software, or embedded systems development
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or similar; knowledge of MATLAB or comparable tools a plus
• Familiarity with IEC or IEEE standards for power systems protection and communication protocols
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in complex technical work
• Strong communication abilities and teamwork orientation
