About the Role
As a Safety Support Associate with PATH's Interim Housing program, you'll play a vital role in maintaining a secure, supportive environment for residents, staff, and visitors at our Long Beach facility. Your work combines proactive facility monitoring, direct participant engagement, and crisis response to foster housing stability. You'll apply harm-reduction principles and low-barrier approaches—meeting residents where they are—while building the connections that lead to lasting change.
What You'll Do
- Conduct regular rounds of the facility and grounds, identifying and reporting safety concerns to supervisors and the case management team
- Engage with program residents to develop trust and positive working connections, encourage participation in community safety practices, and provide support when challenges arise
- Respond to crises and interpersonal tensions using de-escalation and nonviolent conflict-resolution methods, working as part of your team
- Collaborate with case managers and security partners to address facility concerns and support residents' progress toward housing stability
- Assist with meal preparation and distribution, facility upkeep, supply management, and other operational tasks as needed
- Participate in required trainings, team meetings, and feedback discussions to enhance your professional skills and contribute to team performance
- Demonstrate inclusive behaviors and support PATH's values of diversity, equity, and commitment to racial and social justice
What We're Looking For
Preferred Experience:
- One or more years of work with vulnerable populations, security operations, or nonviolent crisis intervention and de-escalation

Mandatory Requirements:
- Valid U.S. employment authorization
- CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
- Successful completion of background screening, tuberculosis screening, and drug screening
