Disposal Operations Management Trainee – Danville, IN

WM is hiring a Disposal Operations Management Trainee to join our operations team at our Glenford facility in Perry County. This full-time position offers comprehensive on-the-job training and development over an 18-month program designed to prepare you for leadership roles in disposal and landfill operations.

About the Role

As a Disposal Operations Management Trainee, you'll work directly with experienced Area Directors of Disposal Operations, Landfill District Managers, and Operations Managers to learn all facets of running a modern waste disposal facility. This developmental position combines hands-on training with classroom instruction, giving you the foundation needed to advance into operations management.

What You'll Do

• Learn and apply landfill operations procedures, including equipment operation and facility maintenance
• Understand environmental compliance, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements in the waste industry
• Assist with daily operations including waste receiving, processing, and site management
• Shadow and support frontline management in decision-making and problem-solving
• Develop customer service and communication skills working with disposal customers
• Participate in training modules covering industry standards and WM operational best practices

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; some college or specialized coursework preferred
• Valid driver's license and ability to pass a background check
• Physical ability to work in an outdoor, industrial environment
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn
• Ability to follow safety procedures and work collaboratively with a team
• Interest in developing leadership and operations management skills
