Renewable Energy Engine Plant Technician ($3,500 Sign On Bonus)

WM is seeking a full-time Renewable Energy Engine Plant Technician to operate and maintain our Landfill Gas to Energy facility in Mitchellville, Polk County. We're offering a $3,500 sign-on bonus to the right candidate.

About the Role

As a Renewable Energy Engine Plant Technician, you'll serve as the primary operator and technical lead for our landfill gas-to-energy conversion facility. This is a hands-on position requiring your presence whenever operations demand, managing the complete lifecycle of our energy generation process—from gas collection and engine operation through power generation and facility maintenance. You'll drive production efficiency, protect our team and environment, and ensure our facility meets all contractual and regulatory obligations.

What You'll Do

• Operate and monitor landfill gas engines and power generation systems to maximize facility output and energy production
• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on engines, gas handling equipment, and electrical systems
• Maintain detailed logs of operating parameters, fuel consumption, power generation, and equipment performance
• Conduct safety inspections, respond to equipment issues, and troubleshoot operational problems
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, EPA standards, and facility operating permits
• Coordinate with landfill operations and management teams to align facility performance with site objectives
• Document maintenance activities and contribute to continuous improvement of facility processes

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade certification or related plant operation experience strongly preferred
• Mechanical aptitude and hands-on troubleshooting experience with industrial engines or power equipment
• Knowledge of basic electrical systems and ability to read technical schematics
• Strong safety awareness and commitment to following established protocols and procedures
• Ability to work independently and adapt to on-call availability requirements
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
