About the Role

As the Maintenance Specialist, you'll oversee facilities management across residential units and common areas at one of PATH's permanent supportive housing communities. Your work will span preventative maintenance, system repairs, and building improvements—from plumbing and electrical work to carpentry and compliance inspections. You'll be responsible for maintaining properties to current safety codes and ensuring that residents have dignified, functional living environments.

What You'll Do

  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems including water heaters, fixtures, drains, grease traps, and HVAC equipment
  • Perform carpentry, painting, masonry, and light construction; maintain locks, hinges, and security hardware
  • Replace flooring materials (tile, carpet, linoleum) and repair residential fixtures
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals to plan and estimate maintenance work
  • Operate power tools, hand tools, and shop equipment; perform electrical repairs on 120V systems
  • Schedule and document preventative maintenance work; manage work requests through maintenance management systems
  • Inspect facilities for safety compliance and resolve code violations
  • Respond to emergencies including fires, earthquakes, and gas leaks by coordinating safe evacuations and utility shutdowns
  • Source, track, and manage maintenance supplies and materials cost-effectively; process orders and returns
  • Use personal vehicle to deliver supplies and support maintenance responsibilities across the property

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on building, equipment, or facilities maintenance experience
  • Minimum 2 years of plumbing and/or electrical maintenance work
  • Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Teams
  • Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and systematic troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with residents and team members
  • Proactive work style and willingness to take initiative on maintenance challenges
  • Preferred: Spanish language proficiency and/or plumbing certification
  • Valid driver's license, reliable personal transportation, and proof of insurance
  • Must successfully complete: CPR/First Aid certification, tuberculosis test, background screening, and drug screening
  • U.S. employment authorization required; PATH cannot sponsor visa applications
