This part-time evening position (Sunday–Thursday, 3:00pm–11:30pm) offers an hourly wage of $21.71–$26.36, depending on your experience. In this role, you'll create and maintain a secure, welcoming environment for guests and staff in one of our vital community housing initiatives.

About the Role

As a Safety Support Associate, you're the trusted on-site presence that helps our interim housing community thrive. You'll proactively monitor facilities and grounds, respond thoughtfully to safety concerns, and build genuine connections with program participants to encourage shared responsibility for maintaining our low-barrier, supportive environment. Your work combines vigilant observation, evidence-based de-escalation, and coordination with case managers and security partners to address challenges before they intensify.

Your Responsibilities

  • Monitor the interim housing site and grounds daily, identifying and reporting safety issues or facility concerns to leadership
  • Apply de-escalation and nonviolent crisis intervention techniques to resolve conflicts and support participants during difficult moments
  • Collaborate with onsite case managers and contracted security staff to maintain a secure, stable environment
  • Conduct regular facility rounds and document observations in writing to support program management and decision-making
  • Assist participants with harm reduction services and access to essential supplies in line with our low-barrier model
  • Work as part of a coordinated team to respond to safety and crisis situations using collaborative, respectful approaches

What We're Looking For

You bring genuine dedication to social change and understanding of vulnerable communities. Ideal candidates possess:

  • One or more years of experience supporting vulnerable populations, providing security services, or facilitating de-escalation and crisis intervention (preferred)
  • Clear, respectful communication skills with diverse groups—participants, teammates, and leadership
  • Collaborative attitude and ability to build positive relationships across diverse teams and communities
  • Problem-solving creativity and willingness to take initiative to meet participant needs
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documenting observations and incidents
  • Commitment to ethical professional standards and maintaining appropriate boundaries

Mandatory Requirements

  • Proof of employment authorization to work in the United States
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain it
  • Completion of tuberculosis test, background screening, and drug screening as a condition of hire
