Nursing Instructor, Part-Time

Rio Hondo College seeks a dedicated Nursing Instructor, Part-Time to join our nursing education faculty in Whittier, Los Angeles County. This position offers faculty the opportunity to shape the next generation of nurses through direct clinical and classroom instruction in our respected Associate Degree Nursing and Vocational Nursing programs.

What This Role Involves

As a part-time nursing instructor at Rio Hondo College, you'll deliver evidence-based nursing education to students pursuing their ADN or VN credentials. You'll balance both theoretical and hands-on clinical instruction, ensuring students develop the competencies and confidence needed for professional nursing practice. Your role extends beyond the classroom—you'll serve as a mentor, guide learners through complex clinical scenarios, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our nursing curriculum across day and evening sessions.

Core Duties

• Teach nursing theory and clinical coursework in the ADN and/or VN programs across scheduled day and evening class sessions
• Design and deliver engaging lessons that integrate evidence-based practice standards and current healthcare protocols
• Supervise and assess student performance in clinical settings, providing constructive feedback and mentorship
• Collaborate with nursing faculty and clinical partners to maintain program quality and accreditation standards
• Participate in curriculum development, assessment activities, and professional development initiatives
• Maintain detailed records of student progress and program outcomes in compliance with college policies
• Uphold professional standards of conduct and model the values of nursing excellence and continuous learning

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered RN license in California
• Master's degree in Nursing or related field (or equivalent graduate-level preparation in nursing education)
• Demonstrated experience teaching in nursing or healthcare education
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to student success and inclusive, culturally responsive teaching practices
• Familiarity with current learning management systems and educational technology
