Role Overview

As a Graduate Med Surg RN, you'll step into a full-time nursing position on one of our rotating evening and night shifts at St. Vincent's Medical Center. This role offers the opportunity to apply your nursing education in a supportive clinical setting where you'll provide direct patient care across medical-surgical units. You'll work rotating seven-evening through seven-thirty-morning and three-afternoon through eleven-thirty-evening schedules, with every other weekend (Friday and Saturday) and every other HHC-recognized holiday required.

Core Duties

• Deliver direct patient care and clinical monitoring on assigned med-surg units
• Administer medications and treatments under nursing supervision and direction
• Monitor vital signs, observe patient responses, and communicate status changes to the care team
• Maintain accurate electronic health records and complete nursing documentation
• Engage with patients and families to explain care plans and address concerns
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary clinical teams
• Respond to patient needs promptly and maintain a safe, hygienic care environment
• Follow infection control protocols and support quality and safety initiatives

Who We're Looking For

• Current Connecticut RN licensure or eligibility to obtain licensure immediately
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program
• Willingness to work rotating evening and night shifts
• Flexibility for every-other-weekend and holiday scheduling requirements
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities
• Commitment to patient-centered care and safety standards
• Ability to function effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Adaptability, clinical curiosity, and openness to learning in a fast-paced hospital setting
