New Graduate Emergency Department RN Residency in Alexandria, LA

Rapides Regional Medical Center is recruiting for a Full Time New Graduate Emergency Department RN Residency position in Willow Glen, Rapides Parish. This structured year-long program prepares newly licensed registered nurses for independent practice in the emergency department through intensive clinical mentorship and progressive patient care experience.

About the Role

The Emergency Department RN Residency combines classroom education, hands-on clinical training, and guided practice to build the diagnostic skills, decision-making ability, and resilience required in acute care nursing. You'll work closely with experienced emergency nurses who serve as mentors, gradually advancing from supervised care delivery to independent nursing practice as you demonstrate competency.

What You'll Do

• Provide direct patient care in the emergency department under structured preceptorship throughout the program
• Assess and monitor acutely ill and injured patients across all age groups
• Perform emergency nursing interventions including triage, medication administration, wound care, and equipment operation
• Coordinate with physicians, respiratory therapists, laboratory staff, and other care team members
• Participate in orientation modules and didactic sessions on emergency protocols, clinical procedures, and evidence-based nursing practices
• Build competency in managing high-acuity patient assignments and complex clinical scenarios
• Transition to independent practice roles as residency milestones are completed

What We're Looking For

• Active Louisiana Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Recent graduation from an accredited nursing program
• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain before start date
• Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills
• Ability to function effectively in high-stress, fast-paced environments
• Professional commitment to patient safety and quality care
