Breaking Ground is seeking a dedicated Residential Aide to join our team in Brooklyn, New York City, supporting residents at the Continental Safe Haven. If you are passionate about helping vulnerable New Yorkers find stability and dignity, this full-time, on-site role offers a meaningful way to make a daily difference.

About the Role

As a Residential Aide at Breaking Ground, you will help maintain a safe, welcoming, and supportive living environment at the Continental Safe Haven in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This 145-bed program serves individuals who are not yet ready to move into permanent housing or who have found other housing settings challenging, offering them clean, secure, and affordable short-term accommodations as an alternative to living on the street.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help ensure the safety, cleanliness, and smooth daily operation of the residential facility.
  • Provide front-line, respectful support to residents and respond to their day-to-day needs.
  • Monitor common areas and resident spaces to uphold a calm and orderly setting.
  • Work alongside on-site case management and clinical staff to support resident well-being.
  • Document incidents and communicate relevant updates to the program team.

Qualifications

  • A genuine commitment to serving individuals experiencing homelessness with compassion and respect.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to stay composed in challenging situations.
  • Reliability, dependability, and a team-oriented approach.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Brooklyn, New York City, including shift-based hours as required by a residential program.
