Right of Way Project Manager – Environmental Services (Chicago)

Burns & McDonnell is hiring a full-time Right of Way Project Manager – Environmental Services to support land and infrastructure initiatives across the Great Lakes Region from our Downers Grove office in DuPage County, near Chicago.

About the Role

As a Right of Way Project Manager within our Environmental Services group, you will guide land acquisition efforts that keep utility and public sector infrastructure projects moving forward. This Downers Grove–based position blends hands-on project leadership with client engagement, financial accountability, and coordination of the title and negotiation work that underpins successful right of way delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and oversee right of way projects supporting utility and public sector infrastructure programs across the Great Lakes Region.
• Lead land acquisition, owner negotiations, and title research activities from initiation through completion.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, and financial performance to meet established targets.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, maintaining clear communication and strong working relationships.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure acquisition deliverables align with project objectives and timelines.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience managing right of way, land acquisition, or related infrastructure projects.
• Working knowledge of negotiation strategy, title research, and acquisition processes for utility or public sector work.
• Strong project management capabilities, including budget oversight and schedule control.
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to lead teams and stakeholders.
• Willingness to work full-time on site in Downers Grove, DuPage County.
