Burns & McDonnell is seeking a detail-driven Assistant Construction Manager - Power to join its team in the Old Sixth Ward neighborhood of Houston, TX, supporting the delivery of complex power infrastructure projects from groundbreaking to turnover.

About the Role

This full-time, on-site position places you alongside senior construction leadership, where you will help steer the daily rhythm of power projects. Reporting to and partnering with the Construction Project Manager, Project Manager, Site Manager, and the Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) Project Manager or Program Manager, you will play a hands-on part in keeping work safe, on schedule, and on budget. It is an ideal step for a construction professional ready to grow within the power sector at one of the industry's most respected firms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support project leaders with the day-to-day oversight of safety and quality on active power job sites
  • Help track project schedules, monitor cost controls, and flag variances early
  • Assist in administering contracts and coordinating with subcontractors, suppliers, and procurement teams
  • Contribute to proposals, estimates, and project documentation
  • Aid in managing project turnover and maintaining clear, professional client interface
  • Collaborate across the EPC team to keep deliverables aligned with project goals

Qualifications

  • A background in construction management, engineering, or a closely related field
  • Working familiarity with construction processes such as scheduling, cost control, contracts, and procurement
  • Strong organizational skills and comfort juggling multiple priorities on a busy site
  • Clear written and verbal communication for coordinating with teams, suppliers, and clients
  • Willingness to work on-site in Houston, TX, and support power project delivery
