The Opportunity
Zoning and land use law sits at the intersection of real estate development, municipal regulation, and environmental protection. In this role, you'll help clients navigate complex municipal processes, resolve disputes over land use and permitting, and achieve their development goals. Whether representing property owners, developers, or other stakeholders, you'll combine detailed legal research with persuasive advocacy to solve problems in the zoning and land use arena.
Your Responsibilities
- Manage zoning and land use litigation matters from intake through resolution
- Prepare legal motions, pleadings, briefs, and other written legal materials for submission to courts and municipal bodies
- Execute legal research and manage discovery processes in land use and real estate cases
- Advocate for clients in hearings and other proceedings before planning boards, zoning boards, and conservation commissions
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and colleagues on sophisticated land use and real estate matters
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of real estate law experience or equivalent legal practice
- Working knowledge of zoning, land use regulations, and municipal law
- Strong legal research and technical writing ability
- Professional communication and collaboration skills
