Working Student – IT Support & Systems

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential quantum computing organization in Garching b. München that is building cutting-edge technology. They need a Working Student to serve as first-line IT support, ensuring every team member has the equipment, access, and systems they need from day one.

You will handle support tickets, prepare laptops and hardware for new starters, manage Microsoft 365 administration, and maintain IT documentation. This is a hands-on role perfect for a student who wants practical experience with infrastructure, user support, and system administration while studying.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level IT support for employees, troubleshooting hardware, software, and access issues
• Support hardware procurement: ordering, tracking, and preparing laptops, monitors, and accessories
• Manage equipment lifecycle from setup for new hires to collection and reset when colleagues leave
• Support IT onboarding and offboarding, including account creation, access provisioning, and device setup
• Handle day-to-day Microsoft 365 tasks such as mailboxes, distribution lists, and Teams/SharePoint access
• Maintain accurate IT documentation including guides, inventory lists, and onboarding checklists
• Collaborate with IT colleagues on complex issues and escalate appropriately

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Currently enrolled in an IT-related degree program (Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar) at any semester level
• Genuine interest in IT systems and infrastructure
• Basic computer literacy with Windows or macOS and solid troubleshooting instincts
• Ability to learn new tools quickly and ask questions when needed
• Reliable, organized, and able to communicate clearly with non-technical colleagues

Nice to Have:

• Hobby-level experience with Windows or macOS troubleshooting, home networking, or similar
• Basic familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools such as Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams
• Interest in growing into a junior or full System Administrator role over time

Personal Qualities:

• Curious and eager to learn—you don't need to know everything on day one
• Friendly and patient when helping colleagues who are less confident with technology
• Detail-oriented, especially with equipment tracking and onboarding processes
• Takes ownership of tasks and follows through
