About the Role
As a Vietnamese Court Interpreter with Metlang in New York City, you will deliver accurate interpretation in a range of legal environments. This is a full-time, on-site position ideal for bilingual professionals who already have hands-on experience interpreting within courtroom and legal contexts and who take pride in maintaining clarity, neutrality, and confidentiality at every stage of a case.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret between Vietnamese and English during a variety of legal proceedings, including proffers, arraignments, depositions, hearings, trial preparation, and trials.
- Convey spoken testimony and legal dialogue faithfully, preserving tone, meaning, and intent without omission or addition.
- Support attorneys, court personnel, and Vietnamese-speaking parties so that communication remains clear throughout each session.
- Uphold strict standards of impartiality, accuracy, and confidentiality in line with professional courtroom interpreting practice.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated Vietnamese interpreting experience within a legal or courtroom setting.
- Full fluency in both Vietnamese and English, with strong command of legal terminology.
- Familiarity with the structure and protocols of legal proceedings such as hearings, depositions, and trials.
- Ability to work on-site in New York City, New York, in a full-time capacity.
